Partying the hair for box braids
Start by partying the hair in half at the top. You can do the top and the back separately, so go ahead and do that first. This tutorial is for a total of eighteen braids, ten in the back section and eight in the top section.

Define the parts
Define the parts using Creme of Nature Argan Oil edge control. Start separating the rows for the box braids. In this tutorial, we will make a total of 18 braids, so there will be ten braids in the back and eight braids in the top section.
We will use the rubber bands method because it looks neater. Go ahead and coat around the parts with edge control and then rubber band the part.
The key to making jumbo box braids look neat is to have nice clean parts. Partying the hair evenly is essential and makes your style look much better.

Making clean parts
Start by making neat and clean parts. We recommend that you go over your parts with edge control and clean up the lines first. This helps to make sure that the style looks neat.

When you are sectioning out the second row, make sure that the braids will fall in between the parts from the first row.
We have three box braids at the bottom; the next section will have four braids, and make sure that these box braids will fall in between those parts. That makes the style looks more full, and the braids should lay down perfectly.

Start the Jumbo Box Braids
Start braiding using two strands
You can use three packs of Xpression for this style, cut each pack in half, and each side makes three braids.
That’s a total of six braids for each pack, so this style has 18 braids in total.
Once you get to the box braids, you can connect them using the two-strands method. We are using two strands of synthetic hair, and then the hair is the third strand, and as you braid down, borrow hair from those two strands to make the hair the same thickness.

You want to make sure that you keep adding products down on the hair when you are braiding. To stop the hair from sticking out, you need to use products off your hand and use it on the edges of the hair to make sure that it’s blending.
Another thing that you can also do is to make sure that the natural hair is underneath the synthetic hair when you are braiding. That helps to make sure that the natural hair is tucked in correctly.
